The terms "Latino" and "Hispanic" do not necessarily describe the same people.<BR/><BR/>2. There is no single Latino "community."<BR/><BR/>3. There is no single Hispanic "community."<BR/><BR/>4. Cesar Chavez's ethnicity was neither "Hispanic" nor "Latino."<BR/><BR/>5. His ethnicity was "Mexican American" and "Chicano."<BR/><BR/>6. "Latinos" and "Hispanics" are not necessarily either "Mexican Americans" or "Chicanos."<BR/><BR/>7. The Latino "community" involved in the Interstate controversy does not reflect either Mexican American nor Chicano points of view.<BR/><BR/>8. The self-appointed "Latino leaders" are exactly that.<BR/><BR/>9. The Portland State Department of Chicano and Latino Studies recognizes the difference between the two cultures. Educate yourselves.
